DENVER – The Colorado Chamber of Commerce today announced that Ed Sealover, award-winning journalist, vice president of strategic initiatives and editor of The Sum & Substance for the Chamber, will moderate its upcoming gubernatorial candidate forum.

The forum features Democratic nominee Attorney General Phil Weiser and Republican nominee Victor Marx and is the only currently scheduled forum featuring both candidates together on the same stage. The program will follow a moderated forum format, with Sealover leading a substantive discussion of business and economic policy issues affecting employers, workers and communities across Colorado.

“Ed has earned a stellar reputation as one of Colorado’s most trusted and knowledgeable business journalists,” said Colorado Chamber President and CEO Loren Furman. “We look forward to a thoughtful, substantive conversation between both candidates about the issues that matter most to Colorado businesses and the policies that will shape our state’s economic future.”

“I’m excited to bring our gubernatorial candidates on stage and ensure we can have a deep discussion of policy issues that affect every business and resident in this state,” said Sealover.

Sealover brings extensive experience moderating high profile candidate debates and forums focused on business and public policy. He has moderated four Colorado gubernatorial candidate debates centered on business issues, including both the Republican and Democratic gubernatorial primary debates for the Colorado Business Roundtable in 2018 and General Election gubernatorial programs for the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce in 2018 and 2022.

His experience also includes moderating four Denver mayoral debates in 2023, a U.S. Senate candidate event in 2016 and other debates for U.S. Senate and congressional races early in his journalism career.

Before joining the Colorado Chamber in 2023, Sealover spent 28 years reporting for newspapers, including 14 years as a senior reporter for the Denver Business Journal. He has covered the Colorado Capitol since 2007 and has reported extensively on the intersection of public policy and the business community, including economic development, transportation, health care, tourism, hospitality and workforce issues.

Sealover has earned 140 state, regional and national journalism awards. The Colorado Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists named him Colorado Journalist of the Year for his work in 2020.

Since joining the Chamber, Sealover has led The Sum & Substance, the Chamber’s independent business policy digital publication, and launched the Colorado Chamber Office Hours podcast early this year. Through both platforms, he has interviewed elected officials and policy leaders from across the political spectrum while providing in-depth coverage of business issues at the state Capitol.

The Colorado Chamber Annual Meeting Luncheon will take place on October 8 at the Legacy at National Western Center. The event is open to both Colorado Chamber members and non-members. Registration and additional event information are available on the Chamber’s website.
