DENVER – The Colorado Chamber of Commerce released the following statement from President and CEO Loren Furman following the unanimous passage of Senate Bill 137 on third reading out of the Colorado Senate today:

“The passage of this important legislation out of the Senate brings us one step closer to improving the transparency of state government and reducing regulatory complexities for the business community. We appreciate the strong support and partnership of Senate President James Coleman and Minority Leader Cleave Simpson, who have demonstrated that leaders from both parties can come together and collaborate for the sake of good governance.”

SB 137 is the Colorado Chamber’s priority legislation for the 2026 session. The bipartisan bill creates more robust standards and criteria for how state agencies review existing regulations. Business leaders across the state have expressed strong support for the measure following the Chamber’s report that Colorado is the sixth most regulated state in the nation.

The legislation will now make its way to the House Chamber for consideration.
