DENVER – The Colorado Chamber of Commerce today released the following statement from President and CEO Loren Furman regarding changes made to Senate Bill 004, the artificial intelligence (AI) regulatory proposal:

“We appreciate the steps Senate Majority Leader Robert Rodriquez has made today to extend the current Colorado AI law that passed in 2024.

“The Colorado Chamber of Commerce, its members, and the Colorado Technology Association worked in good faith to find a compromise with Sen. Rodriguez, consumer groups and labor representatives on SB 004. However, the changes certain groups were seeking would have made Colorado the only state in the country with a liability system that would result in higher legal risks for all businesses, fewer opportunities for AI development, and serious harm to Colorado’s business climate and competitiveness.

“We thank Sen. Rodriguez for amending his bill and allowing Colorado businesses more time to work on the current AI law instead of pushing bad policy through a rushed special session process.”
