DENVER – The Colorado Chamber of Commerce today released the following statement from President and CEO Loren Furman following the passage of Senate Bill 137 in the state legislature:
“The passage of Senate Bill 137 is an important step toward a more transparent and accountable regulatory system in Colorado. As regulations continue to grow, it is critical to ensure they are working as intended and not creating unnecessary burdens for the business community. We appreciate the leadership of House Speaker Julie McCluskie and House Minority Leader Jarvis Caldwell in advancing this legislation, as well as the bipartisan partnership from legislators in both chambers.”
SB 137 is the Colorado Chamber’s priority legislation for the 2026 session. The bipartisan bill creates more robust standards and criteria for how state agencies review existing regulations. Business leaders across the state have expressed strong support for the measure following the Chamber’s report that Colorado is the sixth most regulated state in the nation.
The bill was passed in the House on thirds today and will head to Gov. Jared Polis for signature.
