Board Member Highlight: Stacey Campbell Featured on CBS Colorado

House Bill 1005, a bill that would overhaul Colorado’s longstanding labor laws by removing the second election from the Labor Peace Act, was heard in the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee last Thursday. The bill was passed in committee along party lines.

Colorado Chamber Board Member and Chair of the Chamber’s Labor & Employment Council, Stacey Campbell, testified in opposition to HB 1005, speaking on behalf of employers across the state. In his testimony, Campbell emphasized that Colorado’s current labor framework has helped maintain the state’s economic competitiveness and preserves a carefully balanced approach to collective bargaining between business and labor.

Campbell was interviewed by CBS Colorado on the impacts of the bill, highlighting concerns about worker choice and paycheck protections. “I don’t know why advocates would not want all employees to be able to vote on whether or not they want to pay union dues and I think that’s important that we give the employees an opportunity to say whether or not a union should be deducting wages from their paycheck,” said Campbell.

The Colorado Chamber is opposed the bill and will continue to advocate to preserve Colorado’s competitive business climate and protect worker paychecks.
