Faces Behind the Chamber: Ben Picotte

The Colorado Chamber is recognizing members of our staff to highlight the hard work they do to be a unifying voice for business and champion a healthy economic climate to secure Colorado’s future.

As the Communications and Advocacy Coordinator for the Colorado Chamber, Ben Picotte supports both the Chamber’s communications efforts and its governmental affairs work. He develops video and audio content, assists with graphic design and writing projects, and helps manage the Chamber’s social media channels. On the advocacy side, he helps with policy councils and alliances, works on proactive legislation, assists with the Chamber’s political program, and provides support to the governmental affairs team.

What Ben enjoys most about his role is the opportunity to contribute to legislation that has a meaningful impact on the state’s business community while also working creatively in video production, audio editing and design. He appreciates the fast-paced nature of the legislative session and is passionate about staying up to date on issues affecting Colorado employers. For Ben, the variety in his work makes each day both engaging and rewarding.

After a busy day, Ben unwinds by getting outside. He enjoys taking walks or bike rides around Denver, exploring the local food scene (with Kawa Ni and Cart-Driver being his favorites) and browsing local bookstores. He’s also an avid moviegoer and live music fan, taking full advantage of Denver’s exciting music scene whenever possible.

When it comes to Colorado adventures, Ben’s favorite places change with the seasons. In the winter, he loves backcountry skiing on Berthoud Pass, taking advantage of world-class powder just a short drive from Denver. In the summer, he heads to Browns Canyon near Buena Vista to camp, raft and fly fish along the Arkansas River. Closer to home, he bikes to Washington Park to enjoy Denver’s warm evenings and long summer sunsets.

What Ben appreciates most about living and working in Colorado is the geography and climate. The mountains offer an easy escape from busy workweeks, and the changing seasons provide new ways to enjoy the outdoors throughout the year. Having grown up in Rhode Island’s gray, rainy climate, he especially values Colorado’s abundant sunshine. For him, the state offers an ideal blend of natural beauty, opportunity and lifestyle.
