ACTION ALERT: Tell House Finance to OPPOSE Premium Hikes on Health Insurance

A bill that would raise costs for employers and working families is scheduled to be heard in the House Finance Committee on Monday, April 21. House Bill 1297 would increase premiums for individuals who receive health insurance through their employer in order to boost funds for a program called the Health Affordability Insurance Enterprise.

This proposal places a significant financial burden on Colorado employers and their employees, who are already facing increases costs due to inflation and the rising cost of living in Colorado. According to insurer estimates, families on affected plans could see their premiums increase by approximately $250 annually—a significant expense for hardworking Coloradans who largely do not benefit from these programs.

It’s crucial that we protect affordability in Colorado’s health care system without burdening employers and working families.

Please tell members of the House Finance Committee to OPPOSE HB 1297 when it is heard on April 21.
