Fox 31: Unemployment claims rising more in Colorado than other states: Report

Unemployment claims have increased across the United States over the past year and according to a new report they’re rising quicker in Colorado than in most other states.

Finance website WalletHub released a report Thursday analyzing U.S. Department of Labor data from all 50 states and the District of Columbia that shows the change in unemployment insurance initial claims. The study focused on key weeks toward the beginning of the year and compared numbers from 2025 and 2024.

According to a report from the Colorado Chamber of Commerce, Colorado’s job market saw an overall decline last year with fewer openings and salaries increasing less than other states.
