Black History Month Feature: RTL Networks

In honor of Black History Month, the Colorado Chamber is recognizing Black business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, and job creators who have grown their businesses from the ground up and are core to our local Colorado communities.

Today’s feature is Richard Lewis Jr. with RTL Networks

Richard Lewis founded RTL Networks, Inc., an award-winning, technology leader with an international presence in the government sectors, over 20 years ago. The company has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, earning RTL Networks multiple years of recognition as one of the fastest growing, privately owned companies in the nation.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the United States Air Force Academy, Lewis proudly served his country as an officer in the United States Air Force for ten years. Lewis continued his education, earning a master’s degree in business administration from The College of William and Mary and a master’s degree in computer science and security systems from Colorado Technical University.

Before founding RTL Networks, Lewis served in senior management positions for Cisco Systems, Qwest, and Avaya, where he was responsible for developing and executing strategic plans while delivering network consulting services to Fortune 500 and national service providers.

As President and CEO, Lewis has effectively leveraged his education and past experiences to grow RTL Networks into a multimillion-dollar firm recognized by organizations such as the Small Business Administration, Denver Business Journal, ColoradoBiz Magazine, and Inc Magazine.

Throughout his career, Lewis has been repeatedly recognized by those in the industry for his business savvy and civic impact. He has a multi-decade track record of spearheading market growth and expansion according to a defined strategy, while simultaneously and extensively supporting the community.

Lewis is actively involved in the community and is well known for his work to support education reform, small business growth and veterans’ issues. He especially enjoys working with youth to improve access to learning opportunities and create a brighter tomorrow for the next generation. He enjoys mentoring, coaching and guiding youth as they work to achieve their goals.
