Black History Month Feature: Pynergy

In honor of Black History Month, the Colorado Chamber is recognizing Black business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, and job creators who have grown their businesses from the ground up and are core to our local Colorado communities.

Today’s feature is Darrell Jackson with Pynergy, LLC

Darrell Jackson founded Pynergy, LLC, a Colorado leader in fuel and service, in 1999. Pynergy, LLC is devoted to expanding services through distribution by providing the highest quality fuels, lubricants, chemicals and equipment.

Jackson received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Metropolitan State College Denver. Upon graduating he was employed as an Economic Development Specialist for the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development in Denver, where he helped finance numerous businesses that created jobs in targeted communities. During his employment with the city, he structured and funded complex real estate development projects in some of Denver’s most impoverished areas.

Before founding Pynergy, one of Jackson’s first forays into entrepreneurship occurred in 1998 when he helped raise $1.2 million in equity, grants, and loans to fund a start-up business, Empowercom. Empowercom’s vision was to provide training and create jobs in the high tech telecom industry for unemployed and underemployed individuals in Denver. This vision continues to be realized today as the company is owned and managed by Jackson’s siblings.

Jackson founded Pynergy, LLC after raising capital to acquire three gas stations and later expanded into the petroleum distribution business in 2010. Today, Pynergy is a fully integrated wholesale petroleum marketer with retail operations. Pynergy’s warehouse/bulk plant, located in Commerce City, has over 90,000 gallons of bulk fuel and lubricant storage capacity.

Pynergy distributes fuels; diesel, jet, and gasoline, as well as motor oils, greases and chemical products related to the transportation industry. Pynergy’s fuel management program enables fleets to manage their fuel risk through its fuel contracting program. Pynergy employs a diverse workforce of over 40 individuals, a majority residing in the Northeast Denver corridor.

Jackson is also a co-founder of Staffrock Developments, a real estate development company whose mission is to empower communities by developing affordable homeownership and rental opportunities in targeted communities. Staffrock is scheduled to break ground on its initial project, a 10 Unit PUD housing project in Denver’s Westwood community, in May of 2023.

Through both his passion for entrepreneurship and his love for his community, Jackson continually makes a positive impact on the world and is a beacon of light within the small business community.
