DBJ: Colorado’s first commercial carbon-capture projects unveiled

An Arvada startup plans to collect tons of carbon dioxide emissions from two Colorado fuel plants and then inject them into the first underground sequestration well drilled in the state.

The carbon capture and sequestration projects at the Sterling Ethanol and Yuma Ethanol plants are the first projects of Carbon America, a company launched publicly in January to develop carbon sequestration projects.

“The idea of doing Colorado projects as our first projects is really exciting for us,” said Brent Lewis, co-founder and CEO of Carbon America. “We’re excited to let people know we’re doing things.”
