Senate Democrats Elect Senator Carroll as President, Senator Heath as Majority Leader
October 11–On Wednesday, the 18-member Senate Democratic Caucus elected Senator Morgan Carroll (D-Aurora), the Majority Leader, to be the Senate President when the legislature convenes in January. Senator Rollie Heath (D-Boulder) was elected Majority Leader.
The Democrats now control the Senate by one vote.
Political observers had been waiting for the Senate Democrats to elect new leaders in the wake of the recall election September 10th of Senate President John Morse (D-Colorado Springs) and Senator Angela Giron (D-Pueblo), which was covered in the September 13th issue of The Colorado Chamber’s Colorado Capitol Report.
