Kathryn Russell is currently a Partner and Creative Director at XUMA Communications – a branding, advertising and design agency based in Denver, Colorado. Kathryn has an over 20-year tenure in the marketing and advertising industry – holding senior leadership roles in both the creative and strategy arenas. During her career, she’s had the pleasure of being able to impact some of the world’s most ubiquitous brands – including McDonald’s, Nike, Coca-Cola, MillerCoors, Minute Maid, The PGA Tour, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Pepsi-Frito Lay, and more. Career highlights include: leading the recent Brand Transformation of Red Robin.
Restaurants, launching several new brands with the Coca Cola innovation team, working directly with the Chief Security Officer at Nike Global, and writing all the McDonald’s commercials for the Denver Broncos Ed McCaffrey.

Kathryn has also served on the Executive Committees and New Business Pitch teams at her current and previous firms – helping to determine the overarching strategy of the organizations, as well as securing millions of dollars in growth revenue. She’s currently on the Board of Directors at Grabbies Media – a promotional media company serving the Convenience Store, Grocery, and Pet Store channels. Kathryn graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Colorado, Boulder – with dual degrees in Marketing and Spanish Literature. She is bilingual Spanish/ English, having lived in both Mexico and Spain. She proudly serves as Mentor and Professional Liaison for Greenhouse Scholars – a National Non-Profit supporting high-performing but under-resourced college students.

An active skier, hiker, runner, and triathlete, Kathryn couldn’t be happier to make her permanent home in the Rocky Mountains – along with her husband, two young boys, and Catahoula hound. (Seventeen Colorado14-er summits – and counting.) When she’s not in mountains, you’re likely to find her either cheering on her sons at one of their many, many baseball games or listening to live music – preferably at Red Rocks.
