Legal Reform Council

Colorado’s legal climate has been deteriorating – the state is currently ranked 21st for our litigation environment, which is down from 16th in 2016 and ninth in 2008. The Colorado Chamber is taking action, broadening its efforts to improve our legal climate, advance reforms, and restore our competitiveness.

The Legal Reform Council includes representation of legal counsel and businesses committed to reversing the trajectory of Colorado’s legal climate. The council will fight legislation, court cases, and regulations that create costly litigation to employers. Areas of focus include: class action lawsuits, damage caps, construction defects, punitive damages, private rights of action, medical malpractice, personal injury, and more.

Objectives of the Council

  • Stop the advancement and passage of harmful new causes of action;
  • Advocate for reforms to improve Colorado’s legal climate;
  • Engage in a proactive amicus program to support sound business positions in Court;
  • Educate Colorado’s courts on the impact of their decisions for the business community;
  • Utilize a strong statewide voice to bring awareness to the cost of lawsuit abuse and the solutions to fix it.
