Grand Junction is one of seven chambers of commerce to win a grant aimed at studying child care’s availability and affordability in Colorado, according to a press release Monday from the newly formed Child Care Access Alliance.
The group — comprised of the Colorado Chamber Foundation, Gary Community Ventures and Executives Partnering to Invest in Children — awarded $20,000 to the local chamber, which said in its own press release that it would use the money to gather information about child care issues in the area through interviews, assessments and surveys before developing a regional report that “outlines the local child care landscape” with state and local policy suggestions, as well as recommendations for employer practices.
