ACTION ALERT: Tell the Senate to OPPOSE Broad Consumer Pricing Bill

A bill that would significantly change how Colorado businesses set prices and manage their workforce is headed to the Senate floor.

House Bill 1210 targets the use of data and technology in pricing and employment decisions, but its broad language goes far beyond that and could impact to everyday tools businesses rely on, from retail promotions to basic HR and scheduling systems.

For employers, this raises real concerns. Many businesses use data to offer discounts, coupons and loyalty rewards that help keep prices down for customers. Limiting these tools could reduce savings opportunities and push prices higher.

The bill also creates new uncertainty around routine workplace decisions by placing restrictions on how businesses use technology to evaluate employees, set schedules and manage performance. These are core parts of running a business, and added restrictions make them harder to manage.

HB 1210 would also add another layer of regulation on top of existing state laws around data and artificial intelligence, increasing compliance costs and confusion without clear benefits.

At a time when businesses are already navigating rising cost and a complex regulatory environment, this bill adds unnecessary uncertainty that could impact both employers and consumers.

Using the Chamber’s simple tool below, please tell members of the Senate to OPPOSE HB 1210 when it is heard.
