Colorado Chamber Policy Councils and Alliances Convene as the Legislature Enters Final Month of Session

The Labor and Employment Council met on Wednesday to vote on a bill affecting residential contractors that is likely to create consumer confusion. The group then discussed updates on legislation moving through the process, specifically on bills with a fiscal impact.

Members of the Legal Reform Alliance met on Thursday morning to hear updates on draft legislation proposing a cleanup of the state’s department of law and discuss strategy on bills that would make significant changes to Colorado’s arbitration process and jury selection requirements.

On Thursday afternoon, The Tech Alliance heard from Berrick Abramson, the facilitator for the state’s artificial intelligence working group. Abramson outlined the background of the group and provided updates on the findings of the group and on planned next steps. HB 1415: Oppose

The bill creates an optional certification program for residential contractors that would be funded through a fee on applications to the program. The Labor and Employment Council voted to oppose the bill due to concerns that an optional certification program will lead to confusion among consumers.
