Today’s feature is Magda King with Antlers at Vail
Antlers at Vail has been a staple of the Vail community since 1972, just six years after the town was incorporated. Over the decades, it has distinguished itself in Vail Village through a dedicated staff, strong leadership, innovative programs, and deep community partnerships. Known both as a hotel and condominium, Antlers has built a reputation for exceptional hospitality and active civic engagement.
Magda King, general manager at Antlers at Vail, worked her way up after first serving as conference services manager. Originally from Ecuador, King moved to the United States looking for positions that would involve her education and multilingual skills. Before moving to the U.S., she studied business administration at the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil and received an MBA from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina.
Under King’s leadership, Antlers at Vail continues to prioritize hospitality, independence and strong relationships at their core. As one of the few independently operated lodging properties in Vail Village, Antlers offers a personalized guest experience guided by its motto: “The answer is yes. Now, what is the question?” Many condominiums have been handed down through generations, and a third of the families who owned units in 1980 still return to Antlers.
King considers her community involvement one of the most rewarding parts of her role. She has built on Antlers’ tradition of civic engagement by launching new initiatives focused on education and inclusion. King believes, “Our community’s success is our success.” One of her favorite projects was a Spanish-language book club among housekeeping staff that later evolved into a partnership with Colorado Mountain College to assist team members in securing their individual citizenship status. The program earned the Colorado Association of Libraries’ Community Partnership Award.
For those looking to start a business, King emphasizes the importance of industry knowledge and creative thinking: “Be a creative CEO, because in hard times, only those who know how to adapt will survive. Do not be afraid of taking measured risks.”
For more than 50 years, Antlers at Vail has grown alongside the Vail Valley, driven by thoughtful leadership, loyal employees, and a deep commitment to community. They encourage Coloradans across the state to visit Vail and offer a local’s discount to all state residents.
