This week, the Colorado Chamber’s Health Care Council welcomed Senator Kyle Mullica, chair of the Senate Health & Human Services Committee and Colorado state senator for District 24. Sen. Mullica spoke with the group about his legislative priorities, the challenges facing the health care industry in Colorado and received feedback on the most important issues for the business community.
The council also discussed upcoming bills, took positions and received updates on other legislation.
The Colorado Chamber took positions on the following bills:
SB 83: Amend
The bill modifies the rules for non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. It prohibits non-compete agreements for highly compensated health care workers and bans covenants that prevent health care providers from informing patients about their continued practice, new contact details or a patient’s right to choose another provider.
The Chamber would like to see amendments to clarify certain language in the bill regarding the banning of cetain covenants.
HB 1094: Oppose
The bill regulates pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) by limiting their income to service fees, banning biased formularies, setting standard reimbursement rates and requiring revenue reporting. The Chamber is opposed to the bill as it restricts PBMs’ ability to negotiate with insurers and pharmaceutical companies which would increase costs for employers.
