Please see the below update on the Environmental & Sustainability Working Group formalized by Governor Polis and which was the top priority of the Colorado Chamber’s Task Force that met for two years:
Background: The Working Group includes six business representatives as well as Office of the Governor’s staff, six State agency leaders and three environmental group representatives. The Working Group has been meeting monthly since April 2026.
- Goal of Working Group: Recommend ways the State can create efficiencies for businesses to complete emissions-reduction projects required by rule and involve long permitting delays. Major focus areas:
(1) Streamlining of permitting: an extensive discussion was held during the Working Group meeting this month. Thanks to business leaders pointing out challenges in permitting delays to agency representatives, proposed solutions were identified and will be incorporated into a final report to be prepared by the Keystone Policy Center, the Group’s facilitator.
(2) Remove hurdles for increasing transmission lines as the State seeks more electrification. This is the topic for the next meeting scheduled on August 12th. We are seeking suggestions for solutions, so please share any ideas prior to this date to [email protected].
