ACTION ALERT: Sweeping Union Bill Advancing at Capitol

A bill that would overturn major provisions of Colorado’s labor laws is scheduled to be heard in the House Appropriations Committee on Friday. Senate Bill 5 would make it easier for a small minority of employees at a company to force union dues on the organization’s entire workforce.

The Colorado Chamber and our partners in the business community have been deep in negotiations on SB 5 for months in an attempt to avoid costly fights at the ballot. We’ve asked leadership at the legislature to slow the process down to thoughtfully find common ground with labor unions.

Business groups were not made aware until late yesterday that SB 5 would be heard in committee this week. This hearing will be the last hurdle this bill has to clear before it goes to the full House for a vote – the final step before passage.

This hearing is premature and disregards the work the business community has done thus far to come to the negotiating table in good faith.

Using the tool below, please contact members of the House Appropriations Committee and ask them to vote NO on SB 5 when it is heard on Friday, or to delay the legislation to allow proper time for negotiations to continue.
