Today’s feature is Janet Johnson with Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies
Janet Johnson is the vice president of global regulatory, clinical affairs, and labeling for Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, a global leader in blood management, blood safety, therapeutic apheresis, cell therapy and cell collections. She leads a team responsible for overseeing relationships with agencies in the 130 countries where the company has customers.
With more than 30 years of experience in leading regulatory teams for medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics Fortune 200 companies, Johnson has built collaborative teams that deliver new product approvals, improve compliance, and set and execute global regulatory strategies to support business growth worldwide.
Under her leadership, Johnson has transformed the global regulatory affairs team into a strategic global partner, emphasizing strong internal and external relationships to achieve regulatory approvals and advance the company’s mission. Her ability to foster collaboration across teams has been key in successfully bringing innovative medical technologies to market.
In her role, Janet has led discussions with regulators, receiving multiple Food and Drug Administration premarket approvals and 510(k) clearances, as well as European Union and international product approvals. Her expertise extends to leading acquisitions and divestitures, developing teams for future growth and ensuring compliance with regulations in the global market.
Johnson holds a bachelor of science degree in bioengineering from Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts. She is also Regulatory Affairs Certified by the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society and completed the Northwestern Kellogg Executive Education Women’s Senior Leadership Program.
Outside of her professional achievements, Janet enjoys reading, traveling and making crafts. She and her family are based in Colorado, where they embrace the state’s active lifestyle.
