The Colorado competition of the National Civics Bee is in Denver on Friday, May 17. Three middle school students from Northwest Colorado have qualified to compete on the statewide level.
- Ryun Pressgrove, Craig Middle School (Craig)
- Elliot Sibson, Steamboat Springs Middle School (Steamboat Springs)
- Gracie Fontenot, Homeschool (Craig)
The three made it to the state-level finals out of 240 students who submitted essays to compete in the regional competitions.
It’s a live quiz on civics knowledge with a panel of judges.
All participants receive a tablet device as a prize and the top three winners receive cash prizes. The Colorado state champion will advance to the National Civics Bee competition in Washington D.C. in November, to compete for the national title as well as over $50,000 in prizes.
