Colorado Rep. Gabe Evans on Wednesday announced he’s entering the race next year for the U.S. House seat representing Colorado’s 8th Congressional District.
Evans, who represents voters in west Greeley, western parts of Weld and part of Adams County, is the second Republican to enter the race for the seat held by U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo, a Democrat who won the seat last year by a margin of less than 1%. The 8th Congressional District includes parts of Weld, Larimer and Adams counties.
Evans, who was elected to the Colorado House in 2022 with more than 63% of the vote, focused on affordability and public safety in his first year at the Capitol. The Colorado Chamber of Commerce recognized his efforts with an MVP Award for highlighting business concerns in debates about climate change, as he’s championed industries’ concerns about their ability to adapt to the state’s increasing regulations.
