What Colorado Employers Need to Know on Recent COVID-19 Paid Sick and Family & Medical Leave Benefits

Last week, President Trump signed legislation passed by Congress known as the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which requires employers with 500 or less workers to provide both sick and paid family and medical leave to their employees.  The new federal law becomes effective April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.  Colorado employers can become more familiar with the provisions of this new law by reviewing the attached document prepared by the US Department of Labor, Division of Wage & Hour.  The guidance by the DOL includes details on the following areas:

  • Paid leave entitlements
  • Enforcement
  • Eligible Employees
  • Qualifying Reasons for Leave Related to COVID-19

We would recommend sharing this document with your employees so that they are aware of these benefits.  Please contact Loren Furman at [email protected] with additional questions or concerns.
